David Smith
is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Motorsports Analytics. Prior to this endeavor, he was the Director of Talent Development at Spire Sports + Entertainment, a NASCAR driver representation agency, from 2011 to 2012, and served as a Talent Scout and Client Manager at Motorsports Management International from 2007 to 2011. He launched the first subscription-based motorsports scouting network, DavidSmithMotorsports.com, in July 2004.

Smith, 28, unveiled MotorsportsAnalytics.com as a rebranding/refocusing of DavidSmithMotorsports.com in February 2012, taking advanced statistical concepts he created for evaluating drivers and teams and bringing them to a subscription-based web site available to the public. The web site has been featured in USA Today and Sports Business Daily and on SiriusXM Satellite Radio’s NASCAR Channel.

Smith was born in Talladega, Alabama and raised in Daytona Beach. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Central Florida. He currently resides in Charlotte.
